Back and Shoulder pain
I’m Carol Seaborne, a massage and movement therapist based in Rainham, Medway. Maybe you’ve had the same problem for months, even years. You might have had a massage, seen other therapists before. I suspect you’ve been given exercises you didn’t really understand and eventually gave up on them. Your pain might have improved for some time but then it slowly came back.
This often means you just haven’t had the right support yet. It doesn’t mean that you’re lazy or that you’re too old to do the exercises. They just didn’t fit into your life.
It’s easy to worry that your body is working against you. That this is just what getting older feels like. It doesn’t have to be!
I use massage to calm your pain down and Strength Coaching, to build things back up so that you simply feel better.
You get to tell me what’s been going on, what you’re worried about and what help you’re looking for. We make a plan that works for you.

Calming things down. You get the hands on treatment that you need. It’s probably why you started looking for help in the first place.

Getting out of pain means you need to take action. We work on a movement plan that makes sense to you. Meets you where you are and fits into your life. This is how you make lasting change.

Often the people I work with come in frightened and leave feeling strong! Strong for the life they want to be living.
They can work in the garden without paying for it all the next day. Walk up hills without their knees complaining. They sleep better at night. They’re keeping up with the kids or the grandchildren.
They stop being frightened of their bodies and stop feeling old before their time.
That’s what we’re working towards, strength that makes you actual life feel better!
You’re not too old and it’s not too late. If you’ve never lifted a weight in your life, that’s completely fine – most of the people I work with haven’t.
We start where you are. If you’re in pain, we calm things down first.
Everything is tailored to you. Your pain history, your life, your goals. Nothing is one size fits all.
I combine hands on treatment with progressive movement so you don’t just feel better temporarily – you build something that lasts.
Hands-on massage can help reduce muscle tension, ease discomfort, and support relaxation. At Massage and Movement Therapies, massage is used as part of a bigger picture helping you feel more comfortable in your body and preparing you to move with greater ease and confidence.
I work mainly with older people in their 50s and 60s who are dealing with joint pain, injury, or the feeling that their body just isn’t working the way it used to. Women who are busy, who have people depending on them, and who have been putting themselves last for too long.
A gentle, structured approach to movement with Foundation Training that focuses on posture, breathing, and building strength through the body’s support muscles. It’s ideal if you’re living with pain, stiffness, or low confidence with exercise and want a calm, accessible way to move better.

What do I wear for a sports massage
Wear comfortable clothing. Clothing that allows you to stretch and move easily is best. Avoid tight and restrictive clothing like denim jeans. You can bring shorts and a T-shirt with you and change in clinic. Ladies please don’t wear crop tops or sports bras.
Can we work together online
Yes. I offer online Foundation Training and exercise programmes online.
What should I wear for exercise
Gym style clothing and trainers are best. You must be able to move easily. Bring a drink and a small towel too.
How much does it cost?
Each person’s experience of back pain is unique, so a programme is tailor-made to what you need as an individual and your goals, so the cost depends on your specific needs.
